There are defining moments in the life of a church that spark encouragement, reignite vision, and trigger motivation for God’s people. We must set aside certain times to see what’s really important. These pivotal moments provide ammunition against the enemy. They spur us on to dig deeper. They push us to rise up to something greater than ourselves. This Sunday is one of those weeks, with those defining moments... Our annual (10:10 am) outside service is always a delight and this year is shaping up to be one of the best ever. Our graduates will be honored... the baptismal tank will be full... and we’re going to give you three tools that will help take your story to from average to extraordinary! We're striving to make Christ known near and far so will you join us? Will you bring a friend? An extra chair? A warm smile? A tender heart? An open mind? We're bringing our best, boasting about Jesus all the way. It’s a game changer week @ Community Gospel! Let’s do this! P.S. Before we head outside at 10:10 would you consider joining us in the Conference Room at 9 am? We'll have a Missions update from CGC missionary, Sarah Miller (International Association for Refugees). This is a great chance to catch up with Sara and hear what God is doing in and through her ministry.

Discipline helps us "know Christ, the power of His resurrection and fellowship of His sufferings.” (Philippians 3:10) In “active disciplines” (reading our Bible, prayer, etc.) we willingly choose to engage God. However, there are some disciplines God initiates without our permission to train and mold us into likeness of Jesus. Whether we are playing a game, driving a car, or baking a cake, there are certain guidelines to follow for success. The Bible speaks about disciplining ourselves to know Christ, the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings (Philippians 3:10). In the “active disciplines” we willingly choose to engage God (and thus have great success!). However, there are some times God disciplines us without our permission to mold us into likeness of Jesus. These disciplines often come in in unexpected ways and forms. We'll even complain about these matters without realizing that they are part of the Lord's loving and gracious plan for our lives and according to His will. The Lord's discipline is a response of His love for us - His desire for each of us to be holy. He uses testing, trials, and various predicaments to bring us back to Himself. Not because He is a cruel parent who finds satisfaction in punishing His kids but because He is a loving, good Father who wants our best. The Lord's discipline is for our good, that God would be glorified with our lives! Procrastination... "The act of willfully delaying doing something that should be done." In other words, putting off until tomorrow what could be done today. Mastering this problem's all about knowing our priorities, learning good time management, and Jesus - always Jesus! It can be done! We are only on this earth for a short time, so we must make the best use of every day we are alive. King David said, “You have made my days a mere handbreadth; the span of my years is as nothing before you. Each man’s life is but a breath” (Psalm 39:4-5), James said something similar in James 4:14: “You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes” and Paul warned, "Be very careful, then, how you live – not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:15-16). We are all guilty of procrastinating at some time or another (not that that makes it okay but it's a frustration we totally get). While the Bible doesn't mention the word "procrastination", it still speaks on it in many ways and we can take those biblical principles and apply them to our everyday life to generate growth! Let's talk about this (and so much more) this Sunday (Memorial Day weekend) at Community Gospel! 10:10 am (68893 SR 331 Bremen, Indiana 46506). Christ known - near and far! Last week was so special to celebrate Mother's Day together watching parents dedicate children. It's always so encouraging to see moms and dads express their understanding that their children belong to the Lord - that they have been entrusted to raise them to come to know Christ as Savior and maturing in that relationship with God. As Jesus said in Matthew 19:14, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." We are so blessed to have so many young people populate Community Gospel! As May continues to roll on we check back into our series on Acts this week discussing power and control. Namely, what do we do when we feel powerless - completely unable to alter details of future. When life's "out of our hands" what do we do? How can we can turn to the Lord and His Word for answers? Let us not lose hope - Jesus is mighty to save! Let's gather and see why when we feel powerless, God might just be at work the most in our every day lives. Let's gather Sunday, at Community Gospel! Tomorrow morning we will be celebrating Mom! If you have a child in our CGC Kids Ministry (birth-5th grade) you are invited to join us in the gym for our annual Mom’s and Muffins during the 9am hour. It will be a great time to spend some fun and intentional time with your children.
